The public’s response to COVID measures showed us the true nature of our fellow Canadians. Many of my own friends disowned me for questioning the mandates and “the science”. Several English-speaking friends from Quebec where I used to live wrote me to compel me to jab, and broke off when I told them I would not go along. As someone raised to cherish the Charter, I was astounded at how it meant nothing to anybody. People posted signs “We’re all in this together” except they were merely signs, meaningless and actually dangerous, as they made me think people were sympathetic to what others were going through. One friend even repeated what Justin Trudeau said: that I was racist and misogynist, that I did not “believe in science”. We live with traitors, dangerous people with no values other than deference to authority.
I assume when you talk about the 'overwhelming comments' that you're referring to the geriatric website BayToday. I think the situation isn't quite as bad as it looks at first blush though. I was pleased to see that about a quarter to a third of the votes on comments were from the sensible side. Given that the average age of BayToday readers is well over 65 I think this shows that the tide is turning.
Canada is definitely behind the USA in reckoning with the lies of the Covid era, but I think we'll get there.
If the government asked for volunteers to go around and hold people down to get forced vaccines and to smash open shops, they would have been drowned in such voluntary Brown Shirts.
