Maybe the 338 MPs and the rest of Canada will think twice before we send the next billion dollars to fund a conflict between two dictators halfway across the world. But that's just me...

Possibly the greatest self-own of the decade. The fact Rota didn't realize the guy must have fought on the German side before he introduced him, and the fact 337 other MPs couldn't put it together before standing to applaud, shows the level of historical knowledge we're dealing with among our representatives.

Yes. You can tell that Rota realizes the gravity of what happens. Right after he says "faught against the Russians", he pauses (presumably because he realizes that anyone fighting the Russians in WW2 shouldn't be glorified). His pause should have allowed the MPs to think about that fact for a moment before their praises.

This admission ought to generate painful cognitive dissonance with, and then forceful opposition to, the all-party-all-in support for waging war in Europe to the bitter end.

But maybe memories are just so deficient that Trudy and buddies will walk away unscathed. They will find scapegoats to wag their point fingers at.

Example 1.

Let's not forget the background of our deputy PM, Christia Freeland. Her grandfather, Michael Chomiak was a propagandist for the Nazi Regime in the same area of the western Ukraine. The following link gives a pretty thorough back ground. These outfits along with the current Islamic State terrorists have been a CIA (formerly OSS) projects since WW II.
