West Nipissing Council vs. Facts

These clips need to be watched. Not just because of this council's decision but so you can witness their complete disregard for actual facts.

Tonight I'd like to share a very important thread of videos that I hope all West Nipissing residents watch. Non residents might also find these videos troubling, worrying and comedic.

Not just because of this council's decision but so you can witness their complete disregard for actual facts and so you can witness that they voted on this policy under completely misleading and false information. You may also laugh at these elected leaders' complete lack of understanding of the concept of PER CAPITA.

Clip #1: On January 18th, 2022 our council met in order to pass a policy that would allow them to start firing people based on their health choice. Dave Lewington attended the meeting to provide important facts before they made their decisions.

Dave stated that since December 24th, vaccinated people tested positive at a higher rate then unvaccinated people. He even clarified repeatedly that this is PER CAPITA and not in totals.

Here is the data from Public Health Ontario from January 2022 showing that already by then, vaccinated people were testing positive at a higher rate PER CAPITA. What Dave was saying was not "an opinion". It was facts from our own government.

Clip #2: After having heard Dave's very clear presentation, Councillor Denis Senecal tries to claim that unvaccinated people are still spreading the virus more (without providing any sources or references).

Clip #3: Dave offers a clarification to Mr. Senecal. For a second time in less than 10 minutes, Dave explains to council that vaccinated people are testing positive at a higher rate per capita than unvaccinated people (and therefore spreading the virus just as much). .

Clip #4: Councillor Lise Senecal must have muted the meeting up to this point. She again tries to counter Dave's facts with the simple answer: More people are vaccinated so of course more of them are testing positive for :"the COVID or the whatever you call it"

She again completely disregards or simply does not understand the concept of PER CAPITA.

Clip #5: The best clip of the night. The potential future mayor of West Nipissing, Dan Roveda, shows that he absolutely does not understand the concept of PER CAPITA.

For the third time in less than 20 minutes, and after Dave clarified twice that vaccinated people are testing positive at a higher rate, a councillor ignores the facts and spreads false information.

Why are these clips important? Because they show that this council had no idea (and maybe still has no idea) of the actual stats, data or guidance from Public Health Ontario.

They passed this policy with false information spread three times by three different councillors in a public meeting. The case data in January was already showing no difference in spread between vaccinated and unvaccinated people. The data has stayed consistent since then.

The council clearly did not understand that there was no correlation in spread based on vaccination status by then. They passed this motion under the false understanding that vaccinated people were only testing higher in TOTALS and not PER CAPITA. The fact is, they WERE testing higher in PER CAPITA numbers. And they purposely ignored this fact.

There is NO GUIDANCE anywhere from Public Health Ontario, the North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit or from Health Canada that advises that municipalities should have vaccine mandates for staff.

But still, just two weeks ago, this council decided to keep this policy in place indefinitely. Without any scientific or legal justification.
