Petition to amend visitation rules at LTC home
BE IT RESOLVED that Au Chateau LTC Home NEVER restrict visitations between a resident and his or her child under the age of 18
Earlier this week, I shared the story of Jennifer and her predicament in long-term care (LTC) care.
Jennifer is a 37-year old mother of two who has Huntington’s disease. Jennifer has been at Au Chateau LTC in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario since 2020. Because of visitor vaccination restrictions in 2021 and 2022, she has not been able to have her family or her two sons visit her home for the last two Christmas.
Unfortunately, LTC homes such as Au Chateau continue to impose COVID-era rules and Jennifer risks not being able to have her sons visit for the third Christmas in a row.
With the support of her primary caregiver and sister Jamie-Lee, we have started a Change.org petition to ask the board of this non-profit LTC home to change the rules.
Our petition has gotten over 100 local signatures in just one day.
Our request is not controversial and is extremely simple. It sounds crazy that we even have to ask for this.
BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Au Chateau LTC Home amend outbreak policies to NEVER restrict visitations between a resident and his or her child under the age of 18.
That’s it…
We just want them to guarantee that kids will never again be denied the right to see their parents in their home. Lets not forget that the LTC home that Jennifer lives in IS HER HOME. Like any one of us, she should never be denied the right to have her very own children visit her in her home. EVER. Especially not at Christmas.
If you can, please sign this petition and share it with your friends and family.

Thanks for the petition. I would actually not say under 18. People have the right to see their loved ones regardless of age.
