Kill Bill 293 (the Pandemic Prevention and Preparedness Act)

How can we trust this government to enact laws about "pandemic preparedness".

There is a concerning new bill that is making its way through the Senate called Bill C-293, the Pandemic Prevention and Preparedness Act.

Many experts have brought up some serious overarching aspects of this new law. Some of the language that I find most disturbing are the ones instructing government departments to:

• “Promote the production of alternative proteins...”

• “Phase out commercial activities related to animals that contribute to pandemic risk…”

You can see why such language in a new bill can leave many Canadians concerned.

Dalhousie professor and researcher, Dr. Sylvain Charlebois has been one of the strongest critics of the bill calling out the discretionary power it would grant to officials to shut down agricultural facilities without clear, objective criteria.

In reaction to recent pushes to oppose this new bill, the Liberals and legacy media have tried to discount concerns as conspiracy theories. The member of parliament who has sponsored this legislation, Nate Erskine-Smith said his bill was being attacked by “alt-right media”. He claims that passing such a bill is crucial to make sure Canada is prepared for the next pandemic.

But let’s step back a minute and ask ourselves: If Canada needs a new pandemic preparedness plan why the hell would we allow the current government to be in charge?

Especially not Erskine-Smith. Before taking on the lead to supposedly prepare Canada for a pandemic, Erskine-Smith spent a year trying to become the leader of the Ontario Liberal Party.

The same Ontario Liberal Party which two years ago ran on a campaign to prevent the vast majority of kids from going to school.

Yes… Just two years ago these people wanted to mandate COVID mRNAs to attend schools even though over 99% of parents in Canada chose not to give their children the recommended shots.*

*This is not a typo.

During the leadership campaign, Ontario Liberals didn’t acknowledge this monumental mistake. Erskine-Smith and the eventual leader Bonnie Crombie simply talked about how they would have been more restrictive than Doug Ford if they were in power.

The Liberals in this country still will not admit to this day that they did anything wrong. They pushed policies that segregated millions of Canadians based on their choice to take a medical product which they (the government) knew didn’t stop transmission. At the provincial and federal levels they forced businesses and entire industries to shut down creating economic consequences that we are still feeling today. They shut down schools and kids’ activities inflicting immense developmental damage to an entire generation.

On pretty much every aspect of the COVID pandemic, they have been wrong. And they have never admitted to any of it.

And we are going to let them create a plan for the next pandemic? It’s like letting CBC journalists tackle “misinformation” or letting my five year old take over all the grocery shopping in my household.
