A Year After Being Deported from Australia, Novak Djokovic is the Winner (in so many ways)
The significance of this major win and why the mainstream media hate this story.
At 35 years old and likely 10 year’s past the average prime for a tennis athlete, Novak Djokovic just won one of the most important sporting events in the world.
The significance of this cannot be overstated.
A year ago, Djokovic, arguably the greatest tennis player of all time took the greatest social risk of his life. He did something that we now probably think is not controversial whatsoever. This man, one of the healthiest humans on earth, declined the COVID shot. His main reasons were that he had already contracted COVID and natural immunity and he was at an incredibly low risk of the virus itself.
Djokovic stood firmly on his completely reasonable stance on this issue. He told the BBC at the time:
"I was never against vaccination," confirming he'd had vaccines as a child, "but I've always supported the freedom to choose what you put in your body."
“Because the principles of decision making on my body are more important than any title or anything else. I'm trying to be in tune with my body as much as I possibly can."
Because of this he was vilified. After receiving a medical exemption (from an actual medical doctor) and satisfying the Australian entry requirements of January 2022, he was detained by authorities. The only rationale for his detention was that this sporting superstar was “inconvenient” to the Australian government and the entire COVID narrative of the Western World. Every mainstream media personality and network mocked and ridiculed him. They all said his career was over. He paid the ultimate price when they actually deported him for his beliefs. He would go on to miss another equally important tournament later in the year when the US wouldn’t let him in either.
By missing these major tournaments, he had allowed his main rival, Rafael Nadal to overtake the record for major wins by a tennis player.
But this month, Novak Djokovic capped off one of the greatest storylines in sports history. He beat final opponent, Stefanos Tsitsipas (24 years old), in straight sets. It wasn't even close. This non-vaccinated, 35 year old athlete cruised through the field to cement himself as the number one player in the World once again. And one of the greatest athletes of all time.
Many won’t like the comparaison, but we can’t deny the similarities to what happened one of other greatest athletes of all time who stood firmly against the mainstream media, paid the ultimate price and triumphantly returned. I’m talking about Muhammed Ali.
After becoming the World Heavyweight Champion of the World and at the peak of his physical career, Ali risked it all to stand for his beliefs. At 24 years old he was stripped of his titles and of his right to fight for four straight years because he opposed the Vietnam War. The mainstream media vilified him for taking that counter narrative position (that fighting in Vietnam was a mistake), but we now know he was right.
I had goosebumps when I heard that Djokovic won this morning. But story is not getting nearly as much coverage as it should.
Check out the home page of ESPN.COM at noon today and compare it to the home page of the same website on February 21, 2021 (the day Novak Djokovic last won the Australian Open).
Because the mainstream media will still not accept that he was right. They won’t accept that he should have never been banned from this sport because of his beliefs. They won’t accept that they called for and cheered his deportation just a year ago.
This caps off a great weekend. Yesterday was the one year since the Freedom Convoy rolled through town. And today, one of my newest sports heros achieved something amazing for tennis. He achieved something amazing for all of us vilified over the last two years. He achieved something amazing for humanity.
I end this with a short clip of Djokovic’s incredibly emotional reaction to his win which will likely put you in tears as well.
And a second one… Because watching these celebrations is so freakin awesome!
